Description
Call Ducks, historically known as Dutch Quacker Ducks, are one of the smallest and most charming domestic duck breeds. They were originally developed in the Netherlands and used as living decoys, with their loud, carrying calls helping hunters attract wild ducks.
Today, Call Ducks are kept mainly as ornamental birds and pets. Their compact size, rounded bodies, short bills, and expressive faces give them an almost toy-like appearance, but they are lively, alert, and full of personality.
Despite their small size, Call Ducks are confident little birds and enjoy exploring, bathing, and socialising with other ducks. They can be kept in pairs or small groups and are especially popular with families, hobby breeders, and anyone wanting a smaller duck breed with plenty of character.
Male & Female Differences
Drakes are usually slightly larger and develop a curled tail feather as they mature. Their voices are quieter and raspier.
Ducks have the louder, clearer quack for which the breed became famous. They do not develop the curled tail feather.
