Description
Raspberries are soft, fragrant berries with a wonderfully sweet and slightly sharp flavour.
They can be eaten fresh and are excellent in yoghurt, desserts, sauces, smoothies, jams and baking.
Like blackberries, raspberries are delicate once fully ripe and are best handled gently and used quickly. South African berry growers use both fruits for fresh sales and processing.
A little tip: Don’t aggressively wash raspberries and then leave them sitting wet. Wash them gently shortly before using.
Raspberry Yoghurt
Ingredients
½ cup fresh raspberries
1 cup plain yoghurt
1 teaspoon honey
Pinch of cinnamon, optional
Method
Lightly crush half of the raspberries.
Stir them through the yoghurt with the honey.
Top with the remaining whole berries.
Add a tiny pinch of cinnamon if desired.
Tammy’s tip: This barely qualifies as a recipe, which is precisely why it’s useful when someone has never bought raspberries before.
