Description

Figs are soft, sweet fruits with delicate skin and a naturally jammy centre filled with tiny edible seeds.

They can be eaten fresh, roasted, dried, made into jam or served with cheese. Fresh figs are surprisingly versatile and work in both sweet and savoury dishes.

A little tip: Figs are delicate once ripe. Pick them gently and use them quickly.

Honey Roasted Figs

Ingredients

4 fresh figs
1 tablespoon honey
Small knob of butter
Pinch of cinnamon

Method

Cut the figs in half and place them in a small baking dish.

Dot with butter and drizzle with honey.

Add a tiny pinch of cinnamon.

Bake at 180°C for 10 to 15 minutes.

Serve warm with yoghurt, cream or ice cream.

Tammy’s tip: Add a little goat’s cheese instead of ice cream if you’re feeling fancy enough to own opinions about cheese.
