Description
Guavas are wonderfully fragrant tropical fruits with sweet, slightly tangy flesh. They can be eaten fresh or turned into jam, jelly, juice, chutney and desserts.
Guava Compote
Ingredients
4 ripe guavas
½ cup water
2 tablespoons sugar
Squeeze of lemon
Method
Chop the guavas and place them in a saucepan with the water and sugar.
Simmer gently until soft.
Add a squeeze of lemon and serve with yoghurt, oats or ice cream.
Tammy’s tip: If the seeds bother you, push the cooked fruit through a sieve. Guava is delicious but occasionally arrives with gravel ambitions.
